Awesome story about Veronica‘s writing success - it shows also how a sell curated network on LinkedIn can help as a writer while most only concentrate on FB/IG.

Fully with you, Kristina - based on that principle you can still walk in any regular book store in Germany to find 3-5 of my books from major publishers…
Those books are travel guide books from Polyglott, Bruckmann and Vista Point. It‘s more labour contract work. People buy the books as they like the series and need one for a concrete destination. And the publishers don‘t care if the books became Amazon Bestsellers…
I started by writing my first for an independent publisher in 1999 as an active tour guide for Prague, that got the credibility to correct and later write for Vista Print. From there I got featured in GEO Saison which opened a door at Polyglott to correct and then write my own. Prague, Czechia, Bodensee, Switzerland, Zürich - then two hotel guide books (+450 articles in print… bragging alarm over).
It told me consistency pays off - now blogging for 300 weeks on LinkedIn about the same topic which turned into two books ;-)

Hi Gunnar, a network is crucial.
I hear from someone from HarperCollins that they somehow also "buy" the network.
Meaning you build an audience and self publish multiple books.
Then you go to a publishing house and say 👋.
Are you also thinking about writing a book?
I do. Several drafts here. 😆 Would need to focus more on writing these

I'll look for your books. Quick question. Do they still do marketing for you and is 10% on writing on every writing also a thing in your contract?

Wow would love to learn more about this.
Polyglott is one of the top travel publishers.
Did you use to be a travel blogger or had a website or how did this all start?

Thank you, Gunnar!
We are now connected on LinkedIn and I look forward to collaborating in the future. Cheers!
