"You have to be willing to suck to get better" is advice I wish I had embraced early on in my writing journey. I rarely shared my own story in my writing because I wanted my writing to be taken seriously.
The moment I started sharing myself "imperfectly," I began to understand what resonated with my community and what didn't. If I weren't willing to write pieces that honestly sucked, I wouldn't be writing pieces today that suck less :-)

I think you are too as you spend lots of time on Substack and sharing insights :) love the approach from Julie about thinking about what everyone says and then saying it my way and different and so me. Did it on YouTube recently .. that’s what they say… here are my two cents… worked pretty well!
