LOL!!! Are you Medium's new shill? Should we be "euphoric" that those of us who've stuck with the platform for years will be getting even less than we already are so "newer, unrepresented" writers can get all the glory? I agree with Michelle. So let me get this straight: Medium says they want heartfelt, quality writing, but they really don't. "Oh, look. Another flipflop!"

Hi Sherry, 👋 I recommend reading the replies I left here. I hope the will help better. I'm sorry that you're frustrated about the Boost. I know a lot of people (newbies and senior writers) who benefit from the latest changes.
Keep in mind that the Boost is still in beta so Ariel and her team will improve it over time. In addition starting in September there will be 100 Boost Nominators and therefore more than 100 pubs to nominate your story.
My tip is to become a writer for one of them. I assume you're already a write for several of them, so that puts you in a position of luck!
Do you follow Linda Carroll here on Substack? She's also writing about the Boost and is one of the official Boost Nominators. I bet she or another Nominator such as June Kiri (one of my former students) from Bitchy could give you feedback.
As mentioned above, I recommend watching the replays from Medium Day on how the curators are evaluating stories for Boost to get a deeper understanding.
I really liked what Tom said about hidden gems, and buried stories. I also love that Medium is helping people with no audience, new writers etc but at the same time I see a lot of Boosted stories from more senior writers.
I'm looking forward to a Boost label so we get a feeling for what Medium and the community Nominators are looking for.
Have you watched my other videos about the Boost on YouTube? I think the interview with Ariel also uncovers a lot.
Don't be too hard on yourself. It may take a while to get Boosted and I'm crossing my 🤞🤞!!
I also want to come back to your initial question. Haha. I'm not. Last autumn I decided to move beyond Medium and it was a good decision. I write on Sub, share videos on YouTube and this way I don't put all eggs in one basket anymore. Often I was frustrated about this ever changing platform. Still am sometimes. But I'm lucky to also have other platforms and side hustles. Medium is just one pillar of my online business.
However, I see a positive impact with the Boost and new earnings calculation (but can't write that much because of my new 🐥🍼 baby). So I think there's definetly a huge potential and that's why I started this Boost series.
I read your latest piece about the Boost on Medium, Sherry. Apparently the Boost stirrs a lot of strong emotions (as every change on Medium does). It's a shame people try to game the system but that's what Medium also expected to happen.
I bet you know that back in the day when people were paid for claps there were also writers who tried to boost each other's earnings by simply clapping for each other 50 times. Now the number of claps doesn't matter anymore. One clappers are welcome. 👏
However, I'd like to understand your point more. If you want to you can explain it to me.

Thanks for joining the conversation, Kristina
You missed my point, but good try. I’ll let you get back to your baby now.

Thanks for the read!!!
Sure 😊 I hope I'll see your posts more often in my feed now and can support you this way. The read ratio is part of the new earnings calculation.
Fingers crossed one of your opinion pieces will be Boosted soon. Let me know once it happens.
Thanks, Kristina.
You're very welcome. My next newsletter is ready but my toddler is sick... so I'll publish it within the next few days. Hope all is well on your end
Hope he or she (?) is better, soon. I'm way behind here. Need to catch up.
Take care.
It's a he. He's still 😷 Talk soon
