I'm just getting started despite having my substack account for a long time. I wish i'd taken Kristina's class before I got started. With her help I'll get it done right. She is a gem. I'd recommend her all day long.
Recommendations are a great asset and I noticed an increase in the number of new subscribers, too, after receiving recommendations. But, let's be honest, no just receiving them makes you feel good. GIVING them is equally pleasant. After all, you endorse somebody that provides a valuable, genuine content. Win-win :)
Hey Kristina! You've mentioned in the past that you are being recommended by tons of newsletter writers on Substack. Does that mean you are also recommending tons of newsletters yourself?
Sure. At the moment I recommend about 40. Most of them from my school. Of course I have to rotate through them. Does this help?
About 230 are recommending my newsletter at the moment. Not sure whether one person can recommend 200 but I can recommend my whole network and people who subscribe now can follow this whole network this is new and I've heard this network effect really is powerful
Hi Jezz, does this mean it doesn't work for you? Make sure to have blurbs on your welcome page. It always depends on the writer and topic a writer is covering. With the new update people can follow ALL people I recommend this is interesting
Oh I removed my recommendations. Because no one of them did it back. Did it for almost a year. So no, I cant see any positivity in recommendation at all.
Yeah recommendations can be pretty awesome! I have access to the back ends of a few different pubs through my VA work and seeing how many subs come from recommendations on some of them is astounding!

It took about a year to go from 0-90 followers, and 30 days to go from 90-162. A lot of that I can attribute to you. I think notes also has something to do with it.

The people I recommend receive a lot more recommendations than I do but I am fine with that as it helps them grow their audience and get their valuable content out there.
Hi, no worries. It's a long game. I know it sucks if you don't see the results you want. However, with the updates redommendations engine I see that the followers are increasing, should happen with your pub as well because now people can follow a whole network and when people recommend you you're part of this network.
You can then convert those followers into subs.
Substack launched an advanced dashboard. Go on stats and subscribers and check it. It's really cool.

Think so too! Often the conversion rate is freaking bonkers. 50 recommendations and 2,000 referrals or more. Always depends on the topic
