Hi Heather, so nice reading from you again! Featured Mitchell in my previous prompt guide with a screenshot of your pub. Guess I'll finalize the manual tonight German time. Thanks for sharing means A LOT!! Cool to hear you're using Canva too. It's really joyful. I create almost all of my thumbnails, featured images with it. As you now since e are I've also been using AI image generators and now love to see it as all on one solution in Canva. Have you heard about the magical dress that was shown when they launched Magic Studio?
I must have a learning curve understanding how to write the descriptions to create an AI image. I tried it out yesterday and the images produced were pretty far off from what I had described. The more I tried changing up the description and regenerating the image, the funnier they got lol!
Mitch encouraged me to head on over to DALL-E3, which I tried out yesterday. It took a while for the images to show up, but they are really good - with pretty much the same description that I used with Canva.
I love your idea of doing an eBook and there are probably so many things that could be created. I do give away to pdf downloads for subscribers to Kindness Magnet, but an eBook sounds very interesting. As a newbie it's hard to imagine - you don't know what you don't know! If you ever wanted to suggest a list of possibilities that might help folks get going. Not sure, just a thought.
I'm not on Medium. Unless it could be a replay of what I write on Substack, I don't have the bandwidth to write for both. Are you on Medium?
You asked me somewhere in a different comment if Kindness Magnet is a paid subscription. It isn't. I have thought about adding a paid option, with the idea of donating whatever was collected (minus fees) to a good cause, getting my reading community involved in helping others (kindness in action). I'm just not 100% sure I want to go down that road. Unfortunately I'm not active on other platforms so I don't have a large following.
PS - I could watch your video many many times. It's definitely full of ideas. It's a bit of an overwhelm for me, so I need to break it down into bite sized chunks and just learn one thing at a time.
Hope you're having a wonderful day - not sure where you are so don't know your time of day!
Hi Heather, hope to answer all questions :D Did you know you can also make your newsletter paid while letting all stories free to read? This way people can support you and you can donate. Maybe now is a great time because it's almost Christmas time. I'll share more in my interview with a SUbstack sub and an upcoming video about getting paid on Substack.
Medium.com is the platform where I have my social blog. You'll learn more this week because it's my Medium week with interviews and latest earning updates.
Totally get that it's an overwhelm when you haven't used Canva yet. Thanks for the insp with the eBook or course on kickstarting ones design journey on Canva.
Yes, I know that I can keep my work free and still allow people to pay/donate. I'm thinking about it. I really want my work to help make a difference for people, so I'm still wrestling with what that looks like. Your post about eBooks and other downloadables is good timing for me. Thank you.
I just downloaded your Medium Guidebook - nothing like seeing a great example!

Lots of practice and trial and error needed!
The more specific you are the better Firefly understands what you need. That's right.
Once you're ready to tackle Canva, you can watch the video (one more time) and learn while doing.
For instance you could create and eBook as lead magnet for your Substack etc.
More to come.
Next week we'll talk about Medium's latest changes. Are you also on Medium?
