Hey Kristina, thank you for forwarding the questions. I will do my best to answer them.
Q: When will the next Apple update be?
A: The following software update will be announced in early June but will be released in Autumn. We don't know what they plan for us, and although there are rumors, they will reveal the updates at the WWDC conference in June.
Q: How about the 70% of Android users? Are there also security updates?
A: For Android, a couple of email clients have advanced privacy features: FairEmail, K-9 Mail, Proton Mail App, Tutanota App, and Hey Email. Even Gmail for Android and the web has some privacy settings, such as "Ask before displaying external images", that could affect the open rate metric.
Q: What does Google do? How can I land in the primary folder?
A: I’m still learning how to write titles that make the newsletter land in the primary folder. However, I think Kristina knows more about this than me, as she is a newsletter wizard.
Q: My newsletter backend says deliverability is at 80%. What does this mean?
A: According to Substack, the delivery rate is the percentage of subscribers whose email or mobile app notification for the post was successfully delivered. That means that only 80% of your subscribers received your newsletter via email or a substack app. Possible reasons: bounced emails, email inbox filters, user-side blocks, unsubscribed or inactive accounts, and technical Issues.
Like Kristina said, I'm looking forward to your questions and curiosities (unfortunately, I don't have access to Kristina's inbox 😆).
Also, I'm eager to hearing (or reading) about the metrics that matter most to you and your readers.
Thanks so much for sharing this, Alex! Here Are the questions I received via DM and email:
- How about the 70% Android users. Are there also security updates?
- What does Google do? How can I land in the primary folder?
- When will be the next Apple update?
- My newsletter backend says deliverabily is at 80%. What does this mean?
Many thanks!
